How a manufacturing company replaced a film crew at a nuclear icebreaker with AI direction.

The Challenge

A manufacturer of lifting equipment and steel wire ropes needed visuals showing their products in real operating context — on nuclear icebreakers in active service. Access to the vessels is restricted. A traditional photoshoot with crew, equipment, and on-site logistics would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and was logistically unrealistic. They needed B2B sales materials, trade show content, and digital assets that showed the equipment doing what it was built for.

The Approach

AI direction, not AI generation

This wasn't an AI generation job. It was an AI direction job.

I studied the technical documentation, equipment specifications, and operating conditions of the icebreaker fleet. I built a reference library of visual context — the bridge, the cargo holds, the deck environments, the lighting conditions of polar operations. Then I directed the AI tools through a multi-stage process: composition, technical accuracy, material rendering, lighting consistency, and final detail work.

The result reads as photography because every choice was made with the intent of a photographer, not a prompt.

The Result

Visuals used across B2B sales materials, trade show booths, digital channels, and the company's own marketing collateral. Production time: under 2 weeks. Production cost: a fraction of a traditional shoot. No vessel access required, no crew, no travel.

The client sent a factory photo of the finished product. No scale. No context. Nothing to show what fender protection looks like when it's actually working.

The AI visualization placed the same product on a nuclear icebreaker hull — workers on deck, ice at sea. Content that a manufacturing company could never afford to shoot on location.

Deliverables

★★★★★

"We've been working with Lada for over a year now — several projects done, and we're still going. The original ask was straightforward: modern visual content for our sales team, something that would actually hold up in client meetings. We got more than we bargained for: the quality went up, and production costs came down.

What I appreciate most is that she doesn't just 'make things look good.' She understands how it fits into the business, stays on top of deadlines, and actually pays attention to the details. The way she combines technical skills with creative thinking is something I don't come across often. I'd recommend her without hesitation."
